Such a cute gift! This was my first Christmas with my boyfriend, and I got this as a stocking stuffer. He ended up buying the "What I Love About Us" version and we had so much fun looking through them and seeing our similar/different answers. The prompts are really cute and simple but allow for a lot of creativity, and you can set the mood with each page whether you want to be funny or sweet. This was one of our favorite gifts.50 Prompts I absolutely love this little book! Yes it is small, about 3.5" x 4.5" but it's perfect. I purchased this as a Valentine's Day present for my fiance. I typed out all the prompts in a word document so I could remember what I had written and try to keep each one different. Bradford D. Jordan is Professor of Finance and holder of the Richard W. and Janis H. Furst Endowed Chair in Finance at the University of Kentucky. Randolph W.Westerfield is Dean Emeritus of the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and is the Charles B. Thornton Professor of Finance. If your class requires connect plus with this textbook, save yourself money and look somewhere else for a more affordable price.

I would rate this higher than two stars if the the book had connect +, unfortunately it does not. My professor requires me to have the connect access code for homework, and I would imagine many professors who request this book would as well.

I paid $167 for an incomplete book? Now I have to pay $50 separately for connect + to "complete" my purchase?

Why did this seller not indicate that this book does not have connect plus? If it’s stated as brand new, I would guess that most people looking at this page description, seeing "new" and clicking "order" will be surprised to receive the book without connect +. Especially for that price. Jeez I’m already a broke student to begin with!

I think the book was shipped in a great condition, but i was disappointed to learn that the course /access code was missing. Its an expensive price to not receive it. I was trying to save and now I have to spend more. I should have bought my book at the university or another place.

Firstly, revolves around Microsoft Office 2010 (where most businesses are already upgrading to the next software). Not a big deal, but still, I have to bounce between both versions and it’s honestly pointless to learn an old system. Minor complaint but it gets worse.

The real insanity starts when your taking the training modules. Each module is in excess of 70+ lessons, which are mindbogglingly boring. I had a few "Aha!" moments of "Wow that was kinda neat", but seriously, how many times are you going to need to insert strings of Word macros into a document?

When they’re not boring you with mundane tasks, your churning through dozens of modules regarding these macros or functions. The majority of which you won’t need and should you need them, an F1 search will enlighten you. Seriously, there’s a library function button which holds your hand through the process. I don’t need to manually things other then basic arithmetic.

The testing is the next laughable portion. Everything is testable and should you deviate slightly from how they taught it (clicking in a box verses pressing TAB to get to the next box) you’re wrong. Certain modules don’t even work in certain browsers.

Care to know how I finally found that out?

I had to find a Youtube video explaining I should use Firefox with the modules.

I couldn’t get anything from tech support since filing a claim is basically a broken and incompetent system at best.

Honestly, it baffles me how higher institutions laud themselves as being centers for higher learning when this piece of trash software is what they’re using.

If your in an online course which wants you to buy this, consider taking a lecture version in lieu of having to use this.

After reading nearly all of this book I can tell you that this text is in fact helpful, however its the information quality that worries me. The 1000+ pages in this book provide the reader with a great breath of info, but with that said the depth of that information is about as deep as a shower. It has vision but lacks insight; has quantity but the discussion lacks quality.

While the book covers every relevant topic regarding restaurants, if fails to offer any insight into how a restauranteur thought process actually goes and lacks the critical thinking I was hoping for. In the end it is basically a series of lists. It can be summed up as a series of things a restauranteur can do for his business… with no thought really given as to whether or not a restauranteur should do them. Also this textbook is more boring than most you’ve probably read as it lacks: Q & A, relevant stories or examples, graphical data, and other common textbook features that make reading more interesting.

This post is not meant to come across as negative because this book is overall very helpful. However you should know before you purchase this book that: much of the information is obvious and common sensical, Atlantic-pub treats this book as an infomercial for a myriad of products it sells, it also tries to sell other company’s products on page after page, and finally if you incorporated every one of the million suggestions in this book I suspect you’d end up either broke and or just plain annoyed with all the unnecessary additions to your business.

Summary: Helpful in that it covers all the topics that you need to know, but frustrating in that 90% of the time it is overly simplistic. Pros include: Quantity of topics covered, helpful forms, and case studies. Cons include: uninsightful, tons of advertisements, and more dry than any textbook I’ve read.
