OK Read This was an OK read. Certainly not the gripping thriller I was hoping for, but still not a yawn and effort to complete. It is the story of exploitation in the fictional country of Narumbe in West Africa where cocoa beans are produced.Dr Mason Palmer who has been working at a health clinic in the plantation area becomes aware of the corruption and slave labour (including children) to produce the sort after bean in the production of chocolate in the west. When he attempts to leave Narumbe, his plane crashes and he is assumed dead.Back home his wife doesn’t suspect foul play until she receives a photo of Mason through the post, along with a cryptic message. Her attempts to find out what happened to him lead from one tragedy to another and she is forced to elicit the help of her criminal uncle Charlie. Three and a half stars.Inspired While this book is considered fiction, there are a lot of truths revealed . When one thinks of chocolate, it is usually a sweet thought. It is hard to imagine the dirty little secrets behind the scenes. I hope this book helps bring the awful truth to the forefront.Couldn’t put it down! My first thought after completing this book was this would be a great movie! It kept me interested from start to finish. I literally felt like I was “reading a movie” as the chapters jumped back and forth between the different settings and characters which it what kept me glued to the pages. After the end of a cliffhanging chapter, the next chapter would take you to a different part of the story in a different setting so all I wanted to do was get through that chapter so I could get back to where the previous chapter left off. That was a consistent pattern throughout the book which is why I couldn’t put it down.The story itself was gripping, emotional, realistic, and satisfying all at the same time. This was my first Sibel Hodge book but I do plan on checking out her others.

Disappointing I really loved the previous books in this series, but this one was quite the let down. For some reason, the author chose to drastically change Cettie’s character. He made her so much weaker and as a result she continuously acted in ways that made no sense. Her father is danger. What does she do? Instead of trying to go to him immediately, she sends a message in directly through a jilted former love interest and former drug addict. Given the option, to send a secure message through her father’s trusted advocate, she says I’ll do that later. Huh? Really? When she finally decided to go visit him, she does so in the company of her bestfriends’s tormemtor and nemesis? And is kidnapped by the same. Really? Her father, the man who saved and changed her life and took her in at great personal cost is then murdered. Does she get angry at the murderers? No instead she tries to get to know them better. Are you kidding me? Why is Cettie such a weak idiot in this book? And yes there is some magical influence here and there, but the story really isn’t plausible. Throw in some other plot holes and you have a poorly written book. I really hope the next one is better. This author is a really good writer, so I’m really disappointed.Heartbroken First let me say I love Jeff Wheeler books. Out of all of them this is 2nd favorite series. King Fountain being my number 1. I have read books 1-3 of this series about 5 times. Counting down the days until book 4 came out. Can I just say my heart hurts. While I am glad Sera has matured, I am heart broken that my Dearest Cettie has done 180 and is so weak now. Book 5 has to turn this around. Maybe, she has to go through this trial to became stronger and put a end to the .....no spoilers... Book 5 I am hoping ends like Princess Maia. Cettie has been through too much.On a side note I would like to say I love Kate Rudd Narration, for this series.The beginning of the end It’s hard to judge the penultimate book in a series, but what I feel the strongest about with Prism Cloud is that it’s darker, even more complex, and certain aspects and situations feel yet more hopeless with the evil overwhelming so much and things going awry. The Harbinger series is such a wonderfully rich tapestry with deftly woven characters and a nuanced world that will have you believing every sky ship, every gate, every mental touch of a Leering. You will leave this book satisfied and yet yearning to see the tapestry as a whole with each thread tucked neatly away and the final picture revealed in its glory.Jeff Wheeler is building momentum and us readers are discovering more answers (and more questions), but the climax to the tale is in the upcoming final book, leaving Prism Cloud a bit of a cliffhanger; all the pieces are in play, all the stage is set, and we await the final curtain. Patience, patience… I must have patience…If you’ve been reading the Harbinger series, then you’re set to sink your teeth into Prism Cloud. (If you haven’t been reading the series, go back and start with Storm Glass, you’ll be glad that you did!) In a way, Prism Cloud is the ultimate bridge book.I received this book as a digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from the publisher through NetGalley. My opinions are my own.

It Screams Along I read and enjoy steampunk, but sometimes I'm not in the mood, (and expect a young reader might not be in the mood), for lovingly detailed descriptions and world building. You can get page after page of description of some clockwork contraption, or a whole chapter devoted to a tour of a steam powered engine room. That's not what you get here.Reeve is great at broad stroke world building. He creates the London traction city in a chapter or two. He shows us all of the levels, how it works, how people fit into it, and the larger world within which it operates, and he frames all of the major characters within the first 50 pages. After that we are off to the races on a high energy, twisty and marvelously colorful adventure.And this is a marvelous adventure. Our hero is a bit timid but finds the swashbuckler within. Our heroine is tough, smart, resourceful, and on a mission. This is a fine team. Around and through them we meet a memorable cast of colorful and compelling allies and villains. This is ripping stuff. Lots of running, hiding, lurking, escaping, fighting, and derring do. I was a bit surprised by the level of violence, and not cartoon violence, in the story, but that's treated as a serious consequence of dangerous times and this is still, after all, a dystopian world tale.So, I enjoyed this immensely and appreciated the high level of imagination and creative energy that went into building and then convincingly portraying this fascinating world.Good, but missing something. I found out about this book after seeing a preview for the movie and doing a bit of research. The idea of a sci-fi adventure/intrigue with moving cities that need to "eat" other cities sounded like it would be a fascinating read.Sadly, I can't say that I found the story to be nearly as compelling as the idea of it. I can't really put a finger on why I'm not enthralled. The idea is there, the action is there, but I guess the characters fall a bit flat for me. I am finding the book interesting, but not strongly and I've already started to lose interest in any of the sequels.It's just missing the magic piece I guess.

No Need to Calculate to Understand it i love physics very much, however, once my educators want me to solve some complex word problem dealing with thermodynamics, gravitational force, or EM forces my brain just can't seem to make sense of any of it. This book provides a well written explanation of all the science and math without having to do any word problems. Everything from sound waves to Einstein's Theory on Relativity are explained in such a way that I could competently hold a conversation with some one...just don't ask me do the math. I highly recommend it to any high school-er trying to understand their physic class or non-science majors taking physics as a science credit.it focuses on physics ideas and principles in a good way to work up the intuition I am physics teacher and in my view of thinking this book is a "must have". It is not a huge handbook with formulas, it focuses on physics ideas and principles in a good way to work up the intuition. Besides, we find an interesting problems collection at the end of each chapter. A remarkable way to introduce physics.Hewitt-Books are excellent, but Pearson Edu ruins it Good Book, Pearson is still awful. Hideous and unsafe Flash Player interfaces for the online content. For the eBook version (which is also run through Adobe Flash), the highlighter (an essential component) doesn't work properly. Placed highlights are either off by 1/4 or 1/2 inch, or randomly crash the Flash Player. Search option is useless, it brings up individual chapters that hold the words, and because the pages don't scale at all, you have to look for the awkwardly tinted (not even highlighted) words that you were looking for by essentially reading every page..I don't think professors realize how much of a pain in the rear Pearson is for students. McGraw-Hill and Norton are so much better for online content, if you absolutely must have it. But if you don't, do your students a favor and stick to the cheapest book suitable to your course, and steer clear of proprietary course software.
